Super September for Our Children and Youth!
What an exciting start to the school year in St. Philip’s family ministries! We have had strong attendance from the nursery all the way through high school Sunday School classes––if you have not yet attended, it’s not too late! There’s always room for more, and there’s no registration required––just show up! And parents, when you drop your children off for Sunday School (at 9:15 a.m.), please introduce yourself to your child’s Sunday School teacher (if you haven’t already). We are so thankful for our wonderful team of volunteers who make Sunday School possible, and we want to make sure they know how thankful we are!
The nursery through 6th-grade classes are using the Gospel Project from Lifeway, which takes the students on an in-depth journey through the Bible in a three-year rotation. We are currently in year two of the cycle. Youth Confirmation continues to cover the tenets of our faith and Anglican heritage, and the 8th-12th grade class is doing a deep dive on the book of Matthew.
We have a wonderful group of kids who have been attending Children’s Church, and they continue to amaze me with how much they are learning. Their lesson is based on the same section of the Bible that preacher uses for the sermon. Remember that the kids leave each week with a craft with the memory verse for the week on it. If the children memorize the verse and tell it to me the following week, they can choose something from my prize bin. Please encourage Scripture memorization with your children at home.
We also have a First Communion Workshop coming up in October. If your child is interested in learning more about that, reach out to me at dlancaster@stpchurch.org. Also mark your calendar for Wednesday, November 11, at 5:00 p.m. We will have a Family Mission Night with a fellowship meal and an opportunity for your students to learn about our Home Mission ministry partners, the local missions that St. Philip’s supports. Then families can work on creating the ornaments for our Angel Trees. We will provide the supplies and instructions. Come craft with us!
