Katie Freer Commissioned for her Role as Director of Women’s Ministries

In front of a small group of family and friends in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd on Friday, October 24, Katie Freer was commissioned as St. Philip’s Director of Women’s Ministries. Katie has served in this role since early last month, and the service was an opportunity for those who supported her as she discerned her calling to vow to continue to support her in her role.
The Rev. Andrew O’Dell officiated, confirming that Katie was prepared to perform her duties diligently, faithfully, and reverently to the honor of God and the benefit of the women of the congregation. Those present also vowed to support and uphold Katie in her ministry with their prayers, wise counsel, and encouragement.
“It was a picture of the beauty of God’s Kingdom and how He leads, calls, and equips us for the work He has for each one of us,” said Katie, “and I am still in awe that I have the privilege to serve Him by serving the amazing women here at St. Philip’s.” Before the final blessing, Fr. Andrew invited all present to lay hands on Katie.
“I was surrounded by the hands and prayers of my family and women who have known me since birth,” she said, “those who watched me grow up in the faith and taught me Sunday School, dear friends and fellow moms from my Bible studies and prayer groups, and longtime leaders I’m just starting to get to know.”
Thank you, Katie, for your faithful leadership and ministry!
