God’s Ministry in Rwanda at the Dufatanye Organization

A note from Martha Vetter, World Missions Team (pictured above with Rwandan youth): I hope you are well. I flew June 4-5 via KLM to visit the Dufatanye Organization in Rwanda for almost three weeks. Below is an article that one of our newest staff members, Sekamana Archiemede (looks like Archimedes, doesn’t it!), wrote. I edited his essay, and Godfrey revised it too. As always, I am grateful for your prayers and generosity.
Transforming Lives Through Faith, Compassion, and Sustainable Development
At the Dufatanye Organization, we believe that true transformation occurs when people experience both the love of Christ and practical support that enables them to build a better future. Thanks to your generous partnership, this vision is becoming a reality every day.
Our integrated approach continues to bring lasting change through early childhood development (ECD), education, climate-smart agriculture, improved nutrition, environmental conservation, health education, and spiritual discipleship. Families are not only overcoming poverty, but are also discovering hope, dignity, and a renewed purpose.
Creating Jobs and Restoring Dignity
Your support is creating employment opportunities for local people, allowing families to earn an income with dignity while serving their communities. Through our programs, staff members, community facilitators, farmers, caregivers, and youth are gaining practical skills, increased confidence, and more opportunities for meaningful work. We praise God that many lives have been transformed through sustainable livelihoods rather than temporary assistance.
Saving Lives Through Holistic Care
According to the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda, Rwanda’s overall unemployment rate was 13.4% in the second quarter of 2026, but the rate for women is and young people is higher. Additionally, they often work fewer hours (labor underutilization). This is why our programs, especially in the Nyanza District, are so important. Among our participants, children are growing healthier, caregivers are gaining knowledge that improves family well-being, and communities are becoming more resilient in the face of these economic and environmental challenges. These achievements remind us that every seed planted in love produces a harvest of hope.
Imbuto Foundation Awards us with Grant Monies
The Imbuto Foundation is one of Rwanda’s leading nonprofit organizations. It was founded in 2001 by the president’s wife, Jeannette Kagame. The word imbuto means “seed” in Kinyarwanda. It symbolizes nurturing people so that they can grow and thrive. Recently, our work in Nyanza with early childhood development (ECD) was awarded a national grant of 903,614 Rwandan francs, which is approximately $625.00. This will be used to support children in ECD to buy mixed flours for breads, construct kitchen gardens, and build kitchens to cook healthy vegetables and purify water through boiling.
Growing God’s Kingdom
Above all, we celebrate the spiritual transformation taking place throughout our ministry.
Many children are learning God’s Word for the first time. Families are joining in prayer, embracing Christian values, and finding renewed hope in Christ. Staff members continue to grow spiritually through daily devotions and becoming faithful servants who minister with compassion and integrity.
We believe that while buildings, gardens, and livelihoods are important, the greatest miracle is seeing lives transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
A Special Tribute to Martha Vetter

We give heartfelt thanks to our International Relations Director, Martha Vetter, for her inspiring visit and unwavering commitment to Christ and our mission.
Her time with us was a tremendous encouragement. She visited our programs, met with staff, encouraged children and families, strengthened relationships with our leadership team, and shared valuable insights that will continue shaping our work for years to come. Her servant heart, wisdom, and genuine love for the people we serve have left a lasting impact on our organization.
We thank God for blessing us with such faithful leadership and friendship.
Looking Ahead with Faith
As we look to the future, we remain committed to expanding our impact while remaining faithful to God’s calling. We pray that, together with our donors and partners, we will reach many more vulnerable children, empower more families with sustainable livelihoods, strengthen communities, and continue sharing the hope of Jesus Christ wherever we serve.

The journey ahead is filled with opportunity because we know that God is leading every step. Just now, we have begun building a training center. In 2011, we built the Dufatanye Ministry Center, but we now need much more office space and more room for teaching classes.
Once again, your prayers, encouragement, and generosity are changing lives every single day. Together, we are witnessing God’s miracles—children are learning, families are thriving, communities are flourishing, jobs are being created, lives are being restored, and hearts are being drawn closer to Christ.
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20–21).
